Construction will resume Monday on the north runway at Portland International Airport, prompting noticeable changes for flights in and out of the airport.

The runway will be closed from mid-July through mid-September, which could mean increased use of the north-south crosswind runway. Jetliners headed for the crosswind runway must buzz low across Vancouver Heights.

The airport is lengthening the north runway from 8,000 to 9,825 feet, which will accommodate the largest aircraft. Next year, the south runway will be closed for rehabilitation.
