A man who police say lied about being the victim of an assault was arrested late Monday on suspicion of domestic violence for allegedly attacking his girlfriend and son.

Damian A. Pete, 30, of Seattle was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault, domestic violence. A charge of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence was sent to prosecutors for review, according to a news bulletin from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities met Pete outside an Albertson’s grocery store, 8300 N.E. 137th Ave., where he told them two men attacked him without provocation near the intersection of Northeast 137th Avenue and Northeast 72nd Street. Pete claimed one of the attackers slashed his leg, arm, hand and neck with a knife while the other watched, according to the bulletin.

Investigators were then led to Pete’s home, 7901 N.E. 136th Ave., and determined he sustained his injuries attempting to harm his girlfriend and the couple’s son, who jumped in to protect his mom. Pete was treated at a local hospital and then arrested.

Tuesday evening, Pete was being held on $15,000 bail and is to appear in court Friday, a jail employee said.
