SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service is warning of high winds Wednesday afternoon and night on the Washington coast.
Forecasters expect south winds of 40 mph with gust to 60 mph as a rainy low pressure system moves through the region. That’s strong enough to topple trees, down power lines and damage some property.
Winds should moderate a bit as they blow into Western Washington. Forecasters expect 30 mph winds with gusts to 50 mph in the area north of Seattle.
Winds should diminish after midnight but it will be colder. The Weather Service says the snow level will drop to the pass level through the end of the week in the Cascades.
Forecasters say the system will bring rain to Eastern Washington and low temperatures in the 30s.
