OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Detroit outfielder Magglio Ordonez has been scratched from the Tigers’ lineup for Wednesday night’s game at Oakland because of a sore right heel.

Ordonez was listed third in Detroit’s batting order in right field before being replaced in the lineup by Casper Wells about 2 hours before the first pitch. Ordonez told reporters in the Tigers clubhouse that he is day to day.

Wells is slated to play left field while Brennan Boesch, who was originally penciled in at left, moved to right field.

Ordonez is batting .310 this season and is second on the team in home runs with five and RBIs with 24.
