Someone was passing counterfeit $50 bills this week at the Columbia Little League’s concession stand at David Douglas Park in Vancouver, the league’s treasurer said.

Kim Crowell, the league’s treasurer, estimates the league lost $250 because of the counterfeit bills.

Columbia Little League was victimized last fall by thieves who stole copper wire from its lighting system. The league was left to fend for itself, working to replace their lights with minimal financial support from Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation.

“It’s pretty bad when thieves like this stoop to stealing from the kids,” Crowell said in an e-mail. “We were just beginning to recover from metal theft in the fall and now this.”

The league has filed a report with the Vancouver Police Department.
