A panel discussion Thursday will focus on concerns over the health effects of an electromagnetic field generated by a proposed 500-kilovolt power line that would run through Clark County.

The panel discussion will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. 4th Ave.

The Bonneville Power Administration is proposing to build the major new transmission line to connect new substations in Castle Rock and Troutdale, Ore. The proposal has generated a backlash of thousands of comments by area residents worried about health effects and impact on property.

The panel discussion, hosted by the citizens group Another Way BPA, will include three speakers and time for questions and answers. The speakers include Terry Constance, chairman of Another Way BPA; Rick Stearns, a BPA electrical engineer; and Maryam Asgharian, a BPA public engagement specialist.
