NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Swiss defenseman Roman Josi and Finnish goaltender Atte Engren have signed entry-level contracts with the Nashville Predators.
The team announced the deals Friday.
Josi (YO-see) signed a three-year deal. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound defenseman was the 38th pick overall in the 2008 NHL draft. He led Swiss defensemen with three points and a plus-3 rating in seven games at the World Championships in May.
He was named to the Swiss team for the 2010 Olympics, but was injured and did not play.
Engren (EHN-grehn) signed a two-year deal. The 6-1, 184-pound goalie was the 204th pick overall in 2007. The 22-year-old went 7-1 with a 1.82 goals-against average in helping TPS Turku win the 2010 Finnish Elite title.
