CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds called up right-hander Sam LeCure to make his major league debut Friday in a series opener against the Houston Astros.
The 25-year-old LeCure is filling in for Homer Bailey, who is on the disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder.
The Reds optioned right-handed reliever Enerio Del Rosario to Triple-A Louisville to open a roster spot. Del Rosario was called up Monday, when Bailey went on the 15-day disabled list. He made two appearances, giving up two hits and a run in one inning.
LeCure drove up from Louisville on Thursday, giving him a day to get acclimated before his debut.
