AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn quarterback Cam Newton says he won’t think about the NFL until after this season.

Newton said Monday he couldn’t give “a definite decision on how I’m feeling right now” about the possibility of skipping his senior season to enter the draft. The Heisman Trophy contender says the third-ranked Tigers can’t be thinking about awards or the NFL because those kinds of “selfish thoughts” can be contagious on a team.

Newton has led the team to a 9-0 start and into Southeastern Conference and national title contention. His 1,122 rushing yards leads the SEC by 400 yards over South Carolina tailback Marcus Lattimore.

Newton also tops the league and ranks third nationally in pass efficiency rating while throwing 15 touchdown passes against five interceptions.
