Marcus Morris leads No. 7 Kansas past Washburn

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Marcus Morris had 28 points and seven rebounds to lead No. 7 Kansas past Washburn 92-62 in the Jayhawks’ first exhibition game Tuesday night.

The Jayhawks, picked second after winning the Big 12 the past six years, played without 6-foot-3 freshman point guard Josh Selby, the overall No. 1 recruit in the 2010 class who is awaiting clearance from the NCAA over eligibility issues.

The Jayhawks started with an 11-0 run against the Division II Ichabods and forced 12 turnovers in the first half. Kansas had 38 points off 24 turnovers.

Tyshawn Taylor had 12 points for Kansas and Markieff Morris had 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Jayhawks were 4 of 19 from 3-point range but missed only three of 35 free throws.

Bobby Chipman had 14 points and Logan Stutz 12 for Washburn.
