North Dakota State defeats Southern Illinois 20-6

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Derrius Colvin scored on a blocked punt in the first quarter and Jose Mohler threw a touchdown pass to lift North Dakota State past Southern Illinois 20-6 on Saturday.

The Bison (6-3, 3-3 Missouri Valley) forced four turnovers. On offense, Southern Illinois outgained North Dakota State 342 yards to 251, but the Salukis (3-6, 2-4) managed just a pair of field goals by Kyle Dougherty. Colvin returned the blocked punt 22 yards to put the Bison ahead for good.

Mohler’s 32-yard scoring strike to Landon Smith in the fourth quarter closed out the scoring. D.J. McNorton ran for 101 yards and Ryan Jastram kicked two field goals for the Bison.

Chris Dieker threw for 154 yards for Southern Illinois, but lost three fumbles.
