SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn says the site of a September fire in the city’s SoDo neighborhood is the best place for a permanent homeless camp.

McGinn says the wreckage from the old Sunny Jim peanut butter factory will be cleared away and the property graded.

KOMO News reports the city would seek a nonprofit organization to manage the camp. After a public hearing, the property could be ready next month for the camp known as Nicklesville.
