It could take up to two months before it becomes clear what caused the sudden and surprising death of a Fort Vancouver High School student.

Police suspect Drake Blair died of a medical problem. The 17-year-old was headed home after the end of the school day at 2:05 p.m. Monday when other students on his bus found him unconscious. He was transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center, where he later died.

The Clark County medical examiner is conducting an analysis to determine the cause and manner of death, which generally takes between six and eight weeks.

No foul play is believed to have been involved, according to Detective Wally Stefan of the Vancouver Police Department.

Blair enrolled at Fort Vancouver in September after attending school in Arizona. He was active in video production and planned to follow his older brother into the U.S. Army.

According to his Facebook social networking Web page, Blair’s family included his father, David; mother, Tricia Blair-Johnstone; a brother, Ian Blair; and a stepsister, Trasie Sanders.
