Georgia Southern defeats Western Carolina 28-6

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) — Freshman Robert Brown had 17 carries for a career-high 153 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown run, as Georgia Southern defeated Western Carolina 28-6 on Saturday.

The Eagles (6-4, 4-3 Southern Conference), who have won three of their last four games, led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Quarterback Jaybo Shaw capped a four-play, 78-yard drive with a 2-yard scoring run in the second, then Brown’s long run in the third made it 21-6. Shaw had a 1-yard burst with 10:26 remaining.

Blake Bostic kicked field goals of 36 and 38 yards for the Catamounts (2-8, 1-6), but his 36-yard attempt in the third quarter was blocked.

Western Carolina quarterback Zac Brindise was 18 for 33 for 191 yards with three interceptions. The Catamounts also lost two fumbles.

Georgia Southern, which outgained Western Carolina 413 to 259, has won 16 straight in the series.
