MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Bail has been set at $250,000 for a 50-year-old man accused of striking and killing a pedestrian in a drunken-driving crash in Missoula.

Brian Holm of Missoula appeared in Justice Court on Wednesday on a charge of vehicular homicide while under the influence stemming from the Nov. 9 crash that killed 24-year-old Brian Beaver of Aberdeen, Wash.

Police say Beaver, his stepbrother and a friend were walking on a sidewalk at about 10:45 p.m. when Beaver was struck. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The three men were on their way to Yellowstone National Park and were staying in Missoula for the night.

Holm broke his neck and 10 ribs in the accident when his vehicle struck a light pole. Police say his wife, who was with him in the car, told them Holm was drinking whiskey at a bar before the crash. Court records say police found a ‘to-go’ cup in the car that appeared to contain whiskey and Coke.
