OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Kenny Lawson Jr. had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Creighton past Louisiana-Lafayette 63-58 Wednesday night.

Antoine Young added 13 points, Doug McDermott had 12 and Greg McDermott became the first coach to start his Creighton career 3-0 since 1921.

Randell Daigle hit seven 3s and led the Ragin’ Cajuns (1-2) with 25 points. Josh Brown added 13.

The Bluejays ended the first half on a 9-2 run for a 34-28 advantage and then scored the first five points of the second half. A 3-pointer by Darryl Ashford put Creighton up 52-39 with 9:22 to play. Louisiana-Lafayette quickly cut the lead to single digits but couldn’t get closer than four.

The victory was the Creighton’s 100th — in 118 games — at Qwest Center Omaha, which opened in 2003.
