BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) — When tolling starts next year on the Highway 520 floating bridge, drivers would pay $3.50 or $5 to cross Lake Washington between Bellevue and Seattle.

The Washington Transportation Commission recommended the toll at a Tuesday meeting in Bellevue. A final decision is scheduled for January after two public hearings.

The $3.50 would be for drivers with a “Good to Go” account. Drivers without an account will be mailed a bill for $5. There will be no toll booths.

The Transportation Department wants the tolls to help pay for a new Highway 520 floating bridge.

There are currently no plans to toll the other floating bridge on Lake Washington, which carries I-90 traffic.
