LOS ANGELES (AP) — Davey Lopes will coach first base and Tim Wallach will coach third base on new Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly’s first coaching staff.

Mattingly also hired former Kansas City manager Trey Hillman as his bench coach on Monday.

The Dodgers retained pitching coach Rick Honeycutt and hitting coach Jeff Pentland from Joe Torre’s staff.

Lopes played 11 seasons for the Dodgers, reaching four All-Star games. The former Milwaukee manager spent the last four seasons as the Phillies’ first base coach.

Wallach was among the top candidates to replace Torre after managing the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque for the past two years. He was the Dodgers hitting coach from 2004-05.

Hillman spent the past three years with the Royals.
