ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — DeVaughn Washington scored 14 points, leading a balanced Ohio attack that placed six players in double figures for a 78-75 victory over Valparaiso on Tuesday night.

Though the game was played in the Buckeye State, it was part of the Las Vegas Invitational. The Bobcats head to Nevada to play national power and sixth-ranked Kansas on Friday.

D.J. Cooper had 13 points. Asown Sayles and Ivo Baltic had 11 points apiece, while Reggie Keely and Tommy Freeman had 10 points each.

Though Ohio (3-1) led by 15 in the first half, Valparaiso (2-2) caught up with 2:16 to play. Brandon Wood’s layup tied it at 70.

Freeman answered with a 3-pointer to give the Bobcats the lead for good, and they maintained it by making 5 of 6 free throws in the final 35 seconds. Wood missed a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer.
