PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Portland, Ore., truck driver has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping an 8-year-old girl repeatedly during a cross-country trip.
Alexander Lukashov Jr. was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse after a five-day trial last July. Testimony revealed that after some of the attacks, the 210-pound trucker gave his victim presents, including a teddy bear.
The now-10-year-old victim wrote a letter to U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown asking that she put the man in prison long enough so that the victim doesn’t have to worry about her own children being hurt by him. The Oregonian reports that Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Kerin read the letter in court Monday.
Federal prosecutors had asked Brown to sentence the 36-year-old Lukashov to 60 years. The judge gave him 30 years behind bars, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.
