Alaska-Anchorage defeats Houston Baptist 74-67

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Brandon Walker scored 25 points and Alaska-Anchorage defeated Houston Baptist 74-67 on Friday in the consolation round of the Carrs-Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

The host Division II Seawolves (2-3) went 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minute to hold off Houston Baptist (0-5), which trailed by 11 in the last five minutes but closed within five with 27 seconds remaining.

Alaska-Anchorage led 33-21 at halftime. Houston Baptist scored just two baskets over the last 10 minutes in the first half. The Huskies committed four straight charging fouls in one stretch.

Walker scored 10 points in the first five minutes of the second half and the Seawolves took their biggest lead, 48-32, on a basket by Matt Peterson with 13:42 remaining.

Casey Robinson scored 14 points and Mario Gill had 11 for the Seawolves.

Michael Moss and T.J. Berry led the Huskies with 15 points each.
