Cal State-Fullerton gets past CS Bakersfield 85-75

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Perry Webster and Jer’Vaughn Johnson each scored 17 points as Cal State-Fullerton rallied to win its home opener 85-75 over CS Bakersfield on Saturday night.

Orane Chin added 16 points, Devon Peltier 14 and Orlando Brown 11. Johnson and Brown had nine rebounds each to tie for game honors.

The Titans (2-4) overcame a 14-point first-half deficit by outrebounding the Roadrunners 43-20 and making 33 of 37 free throws.

Donavan Bragg scored 21 points to lead the Roadrunners (3-3), who also got 15 points from Alex Johnson and 14 from Stephon Carter.

Down 46-38 at the half, the Titans finally took the lead for good on Chin’s 3-pointer with 8:14 left that made it 66-63. Fullerton’s biggest lead was 11.

The Titans beat Bakersfield for the 12th consecutive time dating to 1973 and ran its home nonconference winning streak to 11.
