REDMOND, Wash. (AP) — Microsoft has picked an insider with engineering expertise to head up its Office division. Kurt DelBene fills a spot left vacant when the most recent president left to become Nokia’s CEO.
DelBene is an 18-year Microsoft veteran. He led engineering and development for Microsoft’s business software division, which includes Office, SharePoint and other programs.
Chris Capossela, a marketing executive also seen as a candidate, will report to DelBene.
DelBene is now in charge of technology development and marketing for the division.
Microsoft Corp. is also promoting Andy Lees to president of Microsoft’s mobile business and Don Mattrick to president of the video games group.
Both were senior vice presidents.
