LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Willi Schneider, Orvie Garrett and Brian McDonald have been hired as coaches for the U.S. national skeleton team.

Head coach Tuffy Latour and the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation announced the hirings Friday.

Schneider, a German native, will start in time for the European portion of the upcoming World Cup season. He has helped Canadian sliders win four medals at the past two Olympics.

A coach with the USBSF since 2006, Garrett will work alongside Latour during the North American half of the upcoming season. McDonald, a former bobsledder, will coach the U.S. team racing in the Intercontinental Cup series.

Latour called the hirings “the final pieces of the puzzle.” U.S. sliders begin on-ice training Oct. 15 in Lake Placid.
