Growing company expands in Palouse

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is expanding its work force in Pullman by about 10 percent and will also start a manufacturing operation in Lewiston, Idaho.

The Pullman-based company makes equipment for the electric utility industry, and is the largest private employer in Pullman.

Schweitzer this week said it plans to add about 150 people to its workforce of 1,500 in Pullman. It plans to open a $12 million manufacturing facility with 90 jobs in Lewiston and will expand a manufacturing center in Mexico.
