Area foreclosures slow, but still remain high

The number of Clark County homes in foreclosure retreated a bit in September from August, but were still higher than the same month last year, according to California-based RealtyTrac, which tracks foreclosures across the nation.

Countywide, there were 435 houses in some stage of foreclosure last month, down 21.3 percent from August. Clark County’s foreclosure rate in September was the fourth-highest rate out of the state’s 39 counties.

Nationwide, September foreclosures were up 1.1 percent over the same month last year, with one out of every 371 households affected by foreclosure. In Washington, one out of every 493 houses is in foreclosure, RealtyTrac reported. In Clark County, one out of every 374 homes is in some stage of foreclosure.
