Wade in Chicago, and Heat waiting for his return

MIAMI (AP) — More than 5,000 people showed up Sunday afternoon to watch the Miami Heat practice. One huge part of the organization was missing.

It’s not certain when Dwyane Wade will return, either.

Wade does not plan to be at the Heat preseason game against the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night. He’ll spend at least part of the day in a Chicago courtroom testifying in a lawsuit over custody of his two sons. Wade was also on the stand Friday.

He’s been doing on-court workouts, rehabbing his strained right hamstring, an encouraging sign to Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. But no one seems sure when Wade will be doing that work on his home floor.

LeBron James has spoken with Wade daily during his absence and says, “We’ll make sure we hold it down” until he returns.
