VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Clark College student in a blue uniform with swastika emblems defended “white and proud” fliers he distributed on campus.

Nathan Goncalves of Stevenson told a meeting at the Vancouver college the National Socialist Movement is not about hatred, it’s about love.

The Columbian reports about 250 students, faculty and staff attended the Monday night meeting to discuss the fliers that were distributed Oct. 5. One instructor, Dian Ulner, said they heightened fears.

College President Bob Knight said no threats against any member of the college community would be tolerated. He says the college is balancing uncensored ideas with student rights to study free of intimidation.
