EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A student group at the University of Oregon is encouraging other students and faculty to switch from bottled water to tap water to help the environment.

The Climate Justice League is promoting a “Take Back the Tap” initiative to eliminate bottled water and rely on Lane County’s highly regarded tap water.

“Take Back the Tap” is actually a trademark of Food and Water Watch, a nonprofit consumer advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., that is attempting to ban the use of bottled water across the nation.

The University of Oregon student coordinator for the initiative, Terra Smith, told The Register-Guard a simple habit change can make a huge difference for the environment.
