HELSINKI (AP) — A Finnish prosecutor has charged a cross-country skier and three former ski officials with fraud in a 1998 doping scandal.
Prosecutor Mikko Jaatinen says on Wednesday the men are suspected of giving false information during an investigation over claims of widespread doping in Finnish cross-country skiing during the 1990s.
The suspects are former top skier Jari Rasanen and Finnish Ski Association officials or coaches Antti Leppavuori, Jari Piirainen and Pekka Vahasoyrinki. All have denied the charges.
If found guilty, they face a maximum of four years in prison.
