Fort, Bay students perform Shakespeare

Fort Vancouver and Hudson’s Bay high schools are among six Vancouver-Portland area schools to perform in the Fall Festival of Shakespeare that starts Thursday.

All performances are sponsored by Portland Playhouse and directed with the help of the Portland Playhouse Theatre Company.

Fort Vancouver thespians will perform “Twelfth Night” in the school’s auditorium at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Cost is $5 for general admission, $4 for students with identification and senior citizens.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday students will host a special Dinner Show, with the play and a full dinner served by students. Cost is $20.

For tickets, contact Fort’s business office at 360-313-4014. The school is at 5700 E. 18th St.

At 7 p.m. on Nov. 4, 12 and 13, Hudson’s Bay students will perform “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in the school’s Black Box Theatre, at 1206 East Reserve St.

Cost is $5, $4 for students and seniors. For tickets, contact the Hudson’s Bay business office at 360-313-4400.

Fort and Hudson’s Bay also will perform the plays at the Winningstad Theatre in downtown Portland, 1111 S.W. Broadway.

The Winningstad schedule:

• Nov. 5: 6 p.m., “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” performed by Hudson’s Bay, followed by De La Salle High School, “Comedy of Errors.”

• Nov. 6: 2 p.m., “King Lear” performed by Cleveland High School students; 6 p.m., “Twelfth Night” performed by Fort Vancouver, followed by “Julius Caesar,” performed by Jefferson High School students.

• Nov. 7: 4 p.m., “As You Like It” performed by Catlin Gable students, followed by “Macbeth,” performed by Lincoln High School students.

Tickets for each day can be purchased at the Winningstad box office or at http://www.portlandplayhouse.org. Cost is $13.25 for adults, $11.25 for students (roughly $4 additional for online purchase).
