NEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures are edging higher as strong earnings overseas helped global markets and the dollar resumed its slide.
U.S. traders were preparing for their own batch of earnings Thursday that includes results from Dow Chemical, Colgate-Palmolive, 3M and ExxonMobil.
Traders will also get a reading on jobs Thursday. The Labor Department is expected to say first-time claims for unemployment benefits rose slightly last week. Claims remain at a level that signals employers still aren’t hiring many workers.
Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 17, or 0.2 percent, at 11,089. S&P 500 futures are up 2, or 0.2 percent, at 1,181, while Nasdaq 100 futures are up 5, or 0.2 percent, at 2,128.
