Piatkowski leads Drake to 38-17 win over San Diego

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Michael Piatkowski threw two touchdowns and ran for another Saturday as Drake defeated San Diego 38-17.

Piatkowski had scoring throws of 6 and 14 yards — both to Steve Platek — and added a 3-yard TD run for the Bulldogs (6-3, 5-1 Pioneer), who won their third straight game. Piatkowski completed 16 of 28 passes for 188 yards.

Drake intercepted San Diego quarterback Mason Mills four times, including one by Ben Morrison that he returned 95 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Mills threw two touchdowns for San Diego (3-6, 3-3), completing 27 of 36 passes for 294 yards.

San Diego had only 68 yards rushing on 43 attempts, but still outgained Drake 376 to 343 in total offense.

Patrick Cashmore had 112 yards rushing for Drake.
