Members from all eight Clark County Rotary Clubs will hit the streets on Saturday to collect funds to help eradicate polio.

Volunteers will be “Panhandling for Polio” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Battle Ground Fred Meyer, Dollars Corner, Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver and several intersections throughout the county.

Rotary International launched its campaign against polio in 1985. So far, the club has raised $141.2 million. If it can collect $200 million by June 30, 2012, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will donate $355 million to the cause.

All funds will directly support immunization campaigns in developing countries.
