QUINCY, Wash. (AP) — A Grant County spokesman says a new wildfire has burned across about 2,500 acres of central Washington grass and sagebrush and state officials are sending firefighting help.
County Emergency Management spokesman Kyle Foreman says the fire that was reported Friday initially threatened five homes but fire crews are protecting those residences. No injuries have been reported.
By early Friday evening, Foreman said more than 50 area firefighters were attacking the blaze and some state resources had started to arrive.
The cause of the fire in the rocky, steep Baird Springs area northwest of Quincy was not immediately known.
