Bryant forces 3 turnovers, beats St. Anselm 44-21

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Bryant running back Jordan Brown ran for three touchdowns as the Bulldogs jumped out to a big lead and cruised to a 44-21 win over St. Anselm 44-21 on Saturday.

Bryant took a 27-0 lead in the first half as Brown scored twice, and Mike Canfora scored on a third touchdown run. Samad Wagstaff then scored on a 53-yard interception return.

St. Anselm trailed 27-7 at the half after a 36-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Michael Pierce to Justin Bernard.

But two more touchdown runs by Brown and Canfora, as well as a 22-yard field goal from Chris Bird, gave the Bulldogs a commanding 44-7 lead late in the third quarter.

Pierce threw touchdown passes of 7 and 43 yards to cut the deficit to 44-21. He finished with 230 passing yards and three TDs for St. Anselm (0-2).

Bryant (2-0) rushed for 184 total yards compared to only 92 for St. Anselm.
