A Vancouver man was arrested early Saturday in connection with a shooting in downtown Portland that left one man injured.

Masann Kay, 25, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon, according to a bulletin from the Portland Police Bureau.

Portland police responded to a 2:20 a.m. report of shots fired during a fight between a large group of Asian males and black males at Southwest 2nd Avenue and Taylor Street in downtown Portland, the bulletin said. Witnesses told police one man had been shot. No victims were found, but officers detained one man and recovered a handgun.

At about 3 a.m., police received a call from Legacy Emanuel Medical Center staff reporting that Lenddell Lee Sneed, 21, of Fairview had walked into the emergency room on the other side of the Willamette River with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. Officers responded to the hospital and determined that he was the person who had been shot downtown.
