A forest road west of the Wind River in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest will be temporarily closed beginning next week as workers replace a culvert.

Forest Road 42 will be closed three miles from its junction with Forest Road 54 near the Wind River Highway. The road is directly south of the Trapper Creek Wilderness near the University of Washington’s canopy crane.

Contractors will begin to dig up the old culvert on Monday, weather permitting. The road is scheduled to be reopened no later than Sept. 30.
