VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Police in Washington state say their investigation of the woman who burned her face with acid and then reported she’d been attacked is nearly finished — but they still can’t explain her motive.
A Vancouver police spokeswoman said Friday that Bethany Storro has offered no explanation for her self-inflicted injuries and lie, and investigators haven’t developed one, beyond saying she was emotionally fragile.
On Aug. 30, Storro told police a woman approached her outside a coffee shop and tossed acid in her face. Storro later confessed under questioning that the burns were self-inflicted.
Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp says police will soon turn the case over to prosecutors.
Police say she could be charged with filing a false report.
