The annual Campfires & Candlelight program launches on the Fort Vancouver National Site this weekend, giving visitors a look at what the historic fort area was like after dark.
Visitors can mingle with re-enactors portraying U.S. Army soldiers, Oregon Trail families and residents of the Fort Vancouver Village along the Spruce Mill Trail.
Inside the fort, visitors can tour the buildings by candlelight and interact with characters from the fort’s past.
When: 5-10 tonight.
Where: The tour starts at Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St., Vancouver; it ends at the fort, 1001 E. Fifth St., Vancouver.
The tour is one of several weekend entertainment options in Clark County and Portland. Others include the Sturgeon Festival and a tour of Clark County farms.
1. Learn about life on the farm
Ten local farms throughout Clark County will showcase the variety of agriculture grown in the county as part of the Harvest Day Celebration tour.
Visitors can talk to farmers; purchase produce, flowers and farm products; see alpacas, sheep, chickens, goats and other livestock; and tour fruit orchards and vegetable gardens.

The daylong Sturgeon Festival is dedicated to the sturgeon, which is prevalent in the Columbia River and has not changed much since the species emerged more than 100 million years ago.
The celebration includes educational activities and entertainment for families. It features a performance from Eartha the Clown, fish dissections and a reptile show.
