BEIJING (AP) — Top-seeded Jarmila Groth of Australia earned her first WTA Tour title Sunday, beating Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia at the Guangzhou International Women’s Open.

Groth fired 11 aces in defeating the unseeded Kudryavtseva 6-1, 6-4.

Groth lost just 10 games in the four matches leading to the final against Kudryavtseva, who is ranked 103rd. Groth’s best results on the tour before Sunday were two semifinal appearances.

At the U.S. Open last month, Groth was beaten by Maria Sharapova in the first round.
