Kleybanova opens with a easy win at Korea Open

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Fifth-seeded Alisa Kleybanova of Russia opened the Hansol Korea Open with a 6-2, 6-3 first-round win over Taiwan’s Chang Kai-chen on Monday.

Kleybanova, who won her first WTA singles title in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year, needed only 1 hour, 24 minutes to advance.

In other first-round matches, Russian Ekaterina Makarova beat Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 and Britain’s Elena Baltacha beat local hopeful Kim So-jung 6-3, 6,4.
