ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — A Marion County sheriff’s spokesman says the body of a 57-year-old Salem man last seen on Sept. 12 was found Wednesday in a pond near Albany.

Lt. Tim Steele says Rickie Harlan had set out on a planned fishing trip to the Snake River in Idaho and was due home by Sept. 16.

Harlan had told his wife he first planned to meet his brother and fish at one of two spots south of Salem, but his brother told investigators Harlan never showed up.

Investigators learned the man’s pickup had been found parked along Interstate 5 in Linn County, just north of Albany.

On Wednesday, Linn and Marion county deputies searched an area near where the truck was found and located the body. Steele says investigators think Harlan might have slipped into the water while fishing.
