An 84-year-old mushroom picker reported missing Monday afternoon was found safe this morning.

Won Duk Lee of Lakewood was picked up by a man driving a log truck and driven to Orr Creek Snow Park where he was reunited with family, according to a bulletin issued by the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office. Lee was picked up along the side of Forest Service Road 56.

He had wandered away from his group Monday while picking mushrooms just south of Randle and spent two nights in the forest without equipment or supplies, the bulletin said. He was found wearing rubber boots, rain gear and several layers of clothing.

He was initially reported missing about half a mile from the Adams Fork Campground in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

“We are very thankful to have this type of outcome for this incident,” said Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox. “With the temperature dropping to 31 degrees last night, we were very concerned for Mr. Lee’s well being. We were in the process of ramping up the search efforts this morning when he arrived at the search base. We are very appreciative of the efforts from the search and rescue members that assisted us with this search.”
