OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A house under construction in Olympia has no central heating system.
The Olympian reports it’s one of the few high energy-efficient homes in the state. The so-called “passive” house will rely on extensive insulation, airtight construction and a heat-recovery ventilation system.
The home was designed by The Artisans Group of Olympia for DT and Kim North and their two sons who wanted a home that took energy efficiency to the next level.
Designer Tessa Smith says a hair dryer, candle or hot water heater could be heat sources for the house.
