Kazakhstan’s Podobedova sets 3 world records

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Svetlana Podobedova of Kazakhstan has broken three world records in the women’s 75-kilogram category at the weightlifting world championships.

Podobedova lifted 134 kilograms (295 pounds) in the snatch, improving on the world record she set last year by two kilograms. She also set a new world record by lifting 161 kilograms (354 pounds) in the clean and jerk, increasing her previous record by one kilogram from 2009.

The third world record came in the aggregate 295 kilograms (649 pounds) that she lifted Thursday evening. She set the previous world record of 292 kilograms (642 pounds) last year.
