WASHINGTON (AP) — Quarterback Scott Darby threw for 191 yards and one touchdown and added 98 yards on the ground to lead Georgetown past Holy Cross 17-7 on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half that yielded eight punts, Holy Cross (1-3, 0-1 Patriot League) got on the board first. After a Darby fumble, the Crusaders’ Ryan Taggart threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Gerard Mistretta.
Hoyas kicker Brett Weiss capped a 15-play, 39-yard drive with a 31-yard field goal to pull Georgetown (3-1, 2-0) within four points entering the fourth quarter.
A 7-yard touchdown run by Philip Oladeji and an 8-yard touchdown pass from Darby to John O’Leary gave Georgetown a 17-7 advantage with 2:46 remaining in the game.
