AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Quarterback Clint Moseley has come a long way since throwing self-described pity parties for himself early in his Auburn career.
Once buried on the Tigers’ depth chart, Moseley is now battling Barrett Trotter for the No. 1 job coming out of spring practice.
The former Alabama Mr. Football says he decided the week of the Clemson game last season that “it’s time to grow up if I’m ever going to play here.” He says that was the start of a big attitude adjustment.
Now, Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton and reserve Neil Caudle are gone, and Moseley and Trotter are the only scholarship quarterbacks on the roster this spring.
Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn says Moseley wasn’t mentally ready to play the last two seasons but “has matured greatly.”
