AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Here’s a twist: Another McCoy had a big day in a Texas football game.

This time it was Case McCoy, younger brother of former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, who had the standout performance in Texas’ annual spring scrimmage. Mixing with the second- and first-team offense, Case McCoy was 9 of 11 passing for 124 yards and threw the game’s only touchdown in the first quarter against the first-team defense.

Garrett Gilbert, last season’s starting quarterback, was 8 of 15 with one interception that set up McCoy’s touchdown drive. Connor Wood and David Ash also got some playing time with the first-team offense.

After the game, Texas coach Mack Brown said the Longhorns won’t try to settle on a starter until next fall.
