HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A 34-year-old Pennsylvania man who stole a pickup truck from a Helena dealership, leaving another stolen vehicle behind, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Independent Record reports Brian McCarthy was sentenced Thursday by District Judge Kathy Seeley. She also ordered him to pay $5,200 in restitution.

Court records say he arrived at a dealership on Aug. 14 saying he wanted to trade in a 2005 Ford Focus and buy a Dodge Ram pickup worth about $27,000. He took off in the pickup while a salesman was running his credit application.

McCarthy was arrested a week later in Rogue River, Ore., after crashing the pickup. He pleaded guilty to felony theft in December.

Once he is paroled, he faces a warrant for stealing the car in Somerset, Pa.
